OPEN “A” tournament is for players with rating 2000 and above. Organizer is allowed to include players with lower rating as follows: 1900-1999 (max 20 players), below 1900 (max 15 players).
Tournament will be played with a nine (9) round Swiss system, in accordance with FIDE Laws of Chess. Rate of play is 90 minutes for 40 moves for each player + 15 minutes for rest of the game with an increment of 30 second for every move starting from move 1.
Default time (players arriving later for a game) is 30 minutes.
Each player has a possibility to take a half point bye 2 times during the tournament. This must be announced, at the latest, until the end of the current round before the next round. This option can be used only in the first 6 rounds.
The score in each game is 1 for a win, ½ for a draw and 0 for a lost game. The order of players that finish with the same number of points shall be determined by the following tie-breaking criteria:
- Results of direct encounters between the tied players (If all the tied players have met each other);
- Buchholz Cut 1;
- Buchholz;
- Progressive score;
- The greater number of wins including forfeits.
